Created in 1984, the Université du Havre has almost 7,400 students enrolled in three teaching and research faculties, a university institute of technology (IUT), and a school of engineering in logistics. The university offers comprehensive programs in four sectors: law; economics, management, and commerce; humanities and social sciences, letters, and languages; science and technology. Visiting professionals complement the teaching provided by a permanent faculty of 500. 12 foreign languages are offered, including 6 Asian languages.
Most of the academic and professional programs of the Université du Havre have an international dimension either bilingual instruction, a language requirement, or long-term international internships. Among the university’s programs are international trade; international banking and finance; transport and logistics; international law; maritime and port law; port and coastal engineering; regional development; chemistry and cosmetics; environment and biology; engineer in logistics and engineering. The scientific potential of the university rests on 11 laboratories working in four broad areas: humanities and social sciences, chemistry- biology, mathematics-computer science, and engineering sciences.
