University of Messina is an Italian state university founded in 1548 by Ignazio di Loyola as the first college of the Society of Jesus . The University of Messina is one of the oldest universities in Italy . Its members come not only from Messina, even by many of Sicilyand the nearby Calabria .
The University of Messina has a broad educational offer, with numerous degree programs, and three-year and specialist, able to intercept and respond adequately to the demands of the working world. The University is divided into several poles, located in the center and in the suburbs south and north of the city, accessible through transportation services offered by the University in agreement with public and private companies. In the south of the city it is located on the University Hospital, home of the Faculty of Medicine. In the city center are located the Faculty of Law, Economics, Political Science, Science Education. Finally, in the north of Messina, the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences are located at the Papardo Polo, while the Polo Annunziata houses the Faculty of Literature and Philosophy, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy. Just at the Polo Annunziata is the University Sports Citadel: an area equipped with a large gym, soccer fields, tennis, basketball, volleyball, baseball and where you can practice the disciplines related to swimming, thanks to large pools.
