In the 19th century in Köthen the Higher Technical Institute to Cöthen at which existed engineers in three years of study in electrical engineering , mechanical engineering, chemistry , metallurgy, engineering brick or ceramic were trained.
Until September 1993, the former Technical University of Köthen was running parallel to the Fachhochschule Anhalt.
