Technical University of Ostrava, founded in 1849, is a state university and offers programmes at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels to 17,000 students, over 1800 of whom are from abroad, in engineering, IT, technical, business and economic related branches. TUO has a wide variety of high quality, research driven, English taught programmes.
Industry funded, applied research forms the basis of scientific inquiry at the University. A complimentary group of focused research institutes, well equipped with EU funded, cutting-edge instruments and machinery deliver world class results. For example, the University is home to the National Supercomputing Centre containing one of Europe’s 10 most powerful computers. This provides not only an excellent tool for IT professionals, but the computing power for advanced simulations for many different types of engineering problems and economic modelling.
