We are a multidisciplinary university offering a wide range of disciplines covering most academic fields, from short to long term diplomas.

We play an active role in building and implementing the Higher Education European Area. As part of the harmonization of the architecture of the European higher education system, UFC implements the three-cycle system (bachelor/master/doctorate, respectively 3, 5 and 8 years of study) as well as the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS) for all UFC degrees. The University of Franche-Comté hosts more than 25 Research labs and Centers covering all main fields of Research in connection with Doctoral Schools.
In Franche-Comté, Research thrives from a rich historical and cultural background. For instance, the region’s current leadership in micro and nanotechnology and time measurement naturally derives from its long industrial and watchmaking traditions.
The Burgundy – Franche-Comté Region lies at the heart of Europe. Located in the East of France, it is equally distant from Alsace, Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne, Strasbourg, and Lyon. Paris, Switzerland, Germany and Italy are all within less than 3 hours by train or by motorway. Franche-Comté is a welcoming place worth exploring. The countryside has a thousand surprising facets that change with the different seasons.
