South East Technological University (SETU) is a public technological university located in the South East region of Ireland. It was formed from the amalgamation of two existing institutes of technology in the region –Waterford IT and IT Carlow. Following years of discussions and planning,[ was formally established on 1 May 2022. It is the only university in the South East of Ireland. It has campuses across the south east of Ireland in Waterford, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow and Kilkenny, bringing higher education, research, investment, ideas and opportunity to each community.
The University serves more than 18,000 learners, and employs more than 2,000 staff. While SETU strive to create campuses with state of the art buildings and facilities, ultimately it is a university for and of people. SETU is a community for learning, for research, for collaboration.
