Times Higher World Rankings: top 350 in World Universities
Tampere University is the second largest research university in Finland, established in 2019 through a merger of two distinguished universities, University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. We are ranked among the top 350 universities in the world (THE University Rankings 2024). Tampere University’s focus areas in teaching and research are in technology, health and society. We offer a wide variety of both English-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, and we have several doctoral programmes. Our programmes cover an array of fields from educational sciences to game studies, and from computer sciences to engineering and architecture. All Bachelor degree students are automatically accepted to our relevant Master’s programmes.
We are situated in the vibrant city of Tampere, Finland’s most sought-after city to live and study in, and a region renowned for four beautiful seasons, pristine nature and thousands of lakes. University life offers activities from sports to advocacy clubs, and our students actively engage with the community. Student Housing Foundation ensures comfortable living for all students.
Many of our graduates continue into research but our active networks with companies or other organisations ensure our graduates with the skills they need in different fields of employment. The Finnish residence permit allows students to also work part-time during e.g. weekends and graduates can seek employment with a one-year residence permit after graduation.
