Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) founded in 1852 is a multi-campus, public, higher education institution based in the Mid-West of Ireland with an enrolment of around 5,000 full-time and 1,500 part-time learners. LIT offers career focused programmes across a wide-ranging portfolio of disciplines (engineering, science, information technology, business, food & tourism, social care, sport, humanities, art and design) from High Certificate through to Ph.D. research and has six thriving enterprise incubation centers. LIT was the Sunday Times Institute of Technology of the Year in 2013 and 2008. Its Fashion Design Department is in the top 50 in the world. LIT carries out joint space research work with NASA.
