The School IMT Studies Lucca is a public institution organized as academic graduate school and research center. Main object of study is the analysis of the economic, social, technological and cultural. The school is under the direction of Prof. Pietro Pietrini from November 2015.
Since its foundation, established by decree of the Ministry of University and Research of 18 November 2005, the School has distinguished itself by the quality and innovativeness of its research and its doctoral program and its interdisciplinary nature , characterized by complementarity of methodologies drawn from subjects such as economics, engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physical, cognitive and social neuroscience, political history, archeology, art history, and the analysis and management of cultural heritage. The intersection between art and technology is also reflected in Campus , located mostly in the St. Francis Complex in Lucca, recently restored. The entire campus is located in the historic center of the city, surrounded by its Renaissance walls. Besides accommodation for students, the Campus includes laboratories, classrooms, offices, cafeteria and recreational spaces. In the church of St. Pontian is the Library of IMT, which provides the internal and external public services to support research and multimedia and print resources
