ISIA - acronym of Higher Institute for Artistic Industries (Industrial Design) - is the first public school design instituted by the Ministry of Education, with Provision no. 3700 of 2 July 1973. It draws its origins from the educational experimentation of the previous Advanced Course in Industrial Design and Visual Communication, active in Rome between 1965 and 1970. The architects and founders of that historical experience were Giulio Carlo Argan, art historian and internationally renowned university professor, who was the first President of the Didactic Scientific Committee, and the sculptor Aldo Calò, who was the first Director of the institution.
