Work :
In Finland, it is common for university students to work part-time during the academic terms or full-time over the summer months. Finnish employers often expect university graduates to have some previous work experience when they are looking to hire them, and therefore international students are advised to look for part-time and summer jobs already during their first year of studies. Generally, you can work without restrictions when the work is related to your degree, such as practical training or thesis work. In other cases, paid employment is limited to a maximum of 30 hours per week on average.
Life After Studies :
Aalto University offers support to help students prepare for their future careers, including career counselling, workshops, and networking opportunities. Collaboration with companies allow Aalto students to engage in real-world problem-solving, undertake thesis projects with industry partners, and network at recruitment events. The university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem encourages students to gain entrepreneurial skills, offering opportunities to get involved in student-led initiatives, or funding a new business. Upon graduating from a Finnish university, you can get a post study visa for two years, allowing you to stay and look for work in Finland.
