The courses cover technical, engineering, IT, and business and specific disciplines and lead to Bachelor and Master degrees . As the first professional qualifying degree, the Bachelor’s degree can be obtained after seven semesters, while the Master’s degree is awarded after a further three semesters. These degrees have been introduced at the University of Karlsruhe as part of the Bologna reform since 1999.
Part of the studies are laboratory exercises, practical study semesters and final studies, which are mostly done in an external company. In several studies, research activities have been increasingly integrated since the year 2000, and some studies are regarded as research-oriented.
