IMPAKT (International Mobility Programme for Academic and Knowledge Transfer) consists of 20 institutions of higher education, 8 European, 12 in Asia, and 11 associated partners. The program enables the exchange of 215 individuals, students and staff between the two regions.

IMPAKT program has multiple training opportunities in all disciplines. Social and Human Sciences, Legal and Economic Sciences and Life Sciences and Engineering are particularly targeted.


How long is the duration of the programme?

Applicants must first identify themselves which Target Group (TG1, TG2, TG3) they belong in. The three TGs distinguishes its applicants by their academic status and national conditions.

The duration of the programme is 6 months/10 months for students with undergraduate/masters level, 10 months for Doctorate level, 6 months for Post-Doctoral level, and one month for academic staff.


Who can apply to this programme?

Below are the general eligibility criteria for ASEAN students:

  • Should be a national of a country in Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam) for mobility to Europe or a European Union national for mobility to Asia.
  • Have not resided or had a main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than 12 months during the last five years in any eligible European country at the time of application to the consortium.
  • Have not benefited in the past from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship of the IMPAKT project (any category) nor of another project for the same type of mobility.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction or one of the languages spoken in the host country.

Below is the specific criteria for each type of mobility:

  • Bachelors (mobility)
    Being at least in the 2nd year at the time of submission of the application. The validation of the second year must be demonstrated before departure.
  • Master (mobility)
    Registered in the first year of a Master’s program of two years. If the student is in the third year of a Bachelor, he/she must prove that his/her admission in Master 1 is acquired through a certificate downloaded from the "other documents" section.
  • Master (full) (Asia to Europe)
    The applicant must have completed 8 semesters of studies before starting the mobility.
  • Doctorate (mobility)
    Be enrolled in a doctoral program at the time of submission of the application.
  • Post-doctorate
    Holding a PhD and having a formal link with a higher education institution in one of the eligible countries.
  • Staff
    A tenured staff or working full time in a partner institution or an institution of one of the eligible countries.


What does this scholarship programme cover?

The scholarship covers monthly subsistence allowance as below:

- 1,000 € for Undergraduates/Master

- 1,500 € for Doctorate

- 1,800 € for Post-Doctoral

- 2,500 € for Staff

They also cover the tuition fee, travel costs, and provide insurance for the period of the mobility.
