Founded in 1636, Utrecht University is a prestigious research university, consistently positioned in the top 15 in Europe and the top 1oo internationally in major rankings. Gerard ‘t Hooft, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1999, still works at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at Utrecht University.
