The Fachhochschule Kiel is one of three universities in the state capital Kiel . With almost 7800 students (September 2016), it is the largest Fachhochschule and the second largest university in Schleswig-Holstein
After the departments of the Fachhochschule were distributed over various Kiel districts for a decade, there has been a new joint campus in the Neumühlen-Dietrichsdorf district of Kiel on the old headquarters of Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH (HDW) since 1998 .
