GLINK (sustainable Green Economies through Learning, Innovation, Networking and Knowledge exchange) is in partnership with 9 European HEIs ((from United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Hungary and Italy) and 9 HEIs from Asian countries (Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand), aiming to deliver education, training, research experience and cross-fertilisation of ideas in a number of thematic areas including:

Business Studies and Management Science (04)
Education and Teacher training (05)
Engineering and Technology (06)
Medical Sciences (12)
Natural Sciences (13)

Through this project, a number of scholarships will be available to the talented students and staff at the to promote European HEIs as 'centres of excellence' in thinking green, teaching, research and professional practice, and to enhance the attractiveness, image, visibility and accessibility of the European higher education and research in the participating third countries in Asia.

How long is the duration of the programme?

The duration of the programme is 10 months for undergraduate/masters students, 10-12 months for PhD researchers, 10 months for post-Doctoral researchers, and one month for academic staff.

Who can apply to this programme?

Below are the general eligibility criteria for ASEAN students:

Must be a national of one of the third-countries (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand) covered by the relevant lot.
Must have not resided nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the eligible European countries at the time of submitting their application to the partnership. This rule does not apply to TGIII candidates.
For Target Group 1 (TGI)
Students need to be registered at one of the third-country HEIs within the partnership at the time of submitting their application to the partnership. Undergraduate students must have successfully completed at least one year of studies in their home institution.
For Target Group 2 (TGII)
Students need either to be registered in a HEI (not included in the partnership) of the third-country concerned by the lot or to have obtained a university degree or equivalent from a HEI of these third-countries, UG students can't apply as TGII.
For Target Group 3 (TGIII)
Students need to be nationals of one of the third-countries concerned by the lot and be part of the vulnerable target groups (refugees, asylum seekers, indigenous population etc). A proof of vulnerable status will be required.
Must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries.

What does this scholarship programme cover?

GLINK scholarship covers monthly subsistence allowances as below:

- 1,000 € for Undergraduate/Masters

- 1,500 € for PhD

- 1,800 € for Post-Doctoral

- 2,500 € for Staff

They also cover health insurance, bench fee (for post-Doctorals: if applicable), and travel cost.
