University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) was founded in 2003, as a merger of two previous separated academic institutions (University of Duisburg and University of Essen). This newest institution of higher education in North-Rhine Westphalia has taken its place among the ten largest German universities.
The two-campus university features a broad spectrum of curricula including humanities, social sciences, economics, engineering, natural sciences as well as medicine. Many degree courses and institutions show a special international focus.
On EHEF, especially the Faculty of Engineering of UDE is advertising its strength in education and research. The faculty has 4 departments: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, Computer & Cognitive Sciences, and Mechanical & Process Engineering. More than 11,000 students are currently matriculated at the faculty, with 35% of foreigners.
Faculty is covering nearly all engineering subjects under the same roof and research takes place in a wide field. It also offers many interdisciplinary topics in education and research, including PhD.
Special offer of faculty is the degree program ISE- “International Studies in Engineering”. The study program ISE has nearly 2,500 students from all over the world enrolled. ISE covers several Bachelor and Master degree courses and includes an international PhD program.
